St. Patrick's Day

To celebrate the feast of the irish, and to celebrate being in VA within driving distance of family, Dave and I drove up to Nova for the weekend. We went to ShamrockFest with Mary to watch my Dad play at the festival. Although his traditional irish music wasn't centerstage, the music was great! Mary acted as a roadie, lugging equipment in and out, and then spent the rest of the afternoon with us cool kids. We saw Mr. Greengenes do an awesome rendition of Bono/U2 complete with sunglasses, Burnt Sienna, and Carbon Leaf, along with several smaller groups. We made it home around 9pm for home-made lasagna, which was deeeeelish. After spending some time talking to Diane and Scott on the phone, we packed up the car with more knick-knacks from my room and headed back down to SoVa. The actual day of Saint Patrick was spent exploring Naval Base Norfolk. Dave impressed me with his knowledge of naval ships, or "boats" as he now calls them, cause he's too cool for school. We spent the evening playing Cranium with neighbors Greg and Becca Valdez (and Ava!) and visiting friend Jen Brown. It was boys vs. girls and I am happy to report the girls won the series 2-1. Woot! I think the boys are clamoring for a rematch in the future.

In other news, Dave classes up (aka starts school) on Monday. No more lazy days for him! I'm continuing the job search and still holding out for the right one... Becca and I have made it a routine almost to walk 2miles or more around Mt. Trashmore. If there's an extra pair of hands Penny Lane comes along too. We make quite the team, Becca with Ava, myself with booboo, and someone with Penny. It's great socializing for Slider, although I think he's gonna need a jump/pull harness because it's not as fun for me if I'm spending the whole time pulling him in!
